Our Tallow
From County Durham to Your Skin.
It all starts with a local Farm.
We believe you should know where the ingredients in your skincare come from.
Our tallow begins with suet sourced from a local farm here in County Durham. The cattle are kept on grass for as long as the seasons allow.
BUT NOT ALL BEEF FAT IS THE SAME
Why do we use suet? We chose to only use this prized fat for its purity and for its natural nutrient rich composition, it is a particularly clean, firm fat because it comes from around the kidneys, rather than being a mixture of miscellaneous trimmings. Suet contains a naturally occurring combination of stearic, oleic and palmatic acids which contribute to tallows rich, conditioning and protective feel on the skin.
And for us, using the best part of the fat matters.
FROM SUET TO SKINCARE
Once the fresh suet arrives with us, the process is entirely in our hands.
We carefully render and purify the suet in house, slowly transforming it into the beautifully clean, silky tallow that forms the foundation of every Crème de Boeuf product. There are no large-scale factories or anonymous ingredients involved, just a simple process, carried out carefully in small batches.
The finished tallow is then used to create our range of skincare, from our everyday moisturisers and face balms to our cleansing balm, lip balms and other products. One ingredient. Many beautiful possibilities. We love tallow because it doesn’t need to be complicated.
It is a wonderfully simple, traditional ingredient that has been used for generations, and we believe there is something rather special about taking a local, natural ingredient and turning it into something you can use every day on your skin.
Local. Simple. Carefully made
We know where our tallow comes from. We know how it is made. And because we render and purify it in house, we know exactly what goes into every pot!
